We tackle climate change while improving indigenous peoples' lives.

We stop deforestation. We protect 1.150.212 hectares of tropical forests in the Indigenous Reservation of the Matavén Forest in Colombia - we avoid an average of 3.622.352 Tons of CO2 per year to be released into the atmosphere - while safeguarding its biodiversity and providing education, healthcare, sanitation, food security, among other co-benefits for 15.932 indigenous people.

Climate change is real and it is happening now

Climate change is affecting every corner of our planet. Polar ice sheets melting faster than ever, the sea level is rising, islands are at risk of disappearing, heavy rain and extreme weather events (hurricanes, tropical storms) are increasing in frequency and intensity, leading to floods, decreasing water quality and shrinking water supplies; while others are experiencing more frequent heat waves, wildfires and longer periods of droughts. Some plants and animal species are struggling to cope and are at increased risk of extinction.

The effects of climate change are becoming more and more visible and tangible throughout the world; and, deforestation is one of the main causes of climate change.

We are committed to taking urgent action on climate change while tackling multi-dimensions of poverty and supporting the needs of present and future generations.

We contribute achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals

Our Project is certified for 30 years (2013 - 2042) against 2 international standards

Greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction projects must be certified against an international standard to ensure their integrity, quality, credibility and transparency - worldwide - & demonstrate compliance with rigorous requirements, protocols and scientific methodologies.

Image

VCS certifies that the CO2 emissions reduction from the project are real, that they would not otherwise occur in a business-as-usual scenario (without the Project) and that they have been counted only once towards a mitigation obligation, having a clear and transparent chain of custody from issuance to sale/cancellation (preventing the risk of double counting).

***VCS is the most widely used carbon standard with over 1.600 certified projects.
